A regular individual event with a twist. You will be keeping your best 2 scores on any of the par 3's and par 5's, plus your best 5 scores on any of the par 4's to end up with a 9 hole score. A really good 9 hole score, if history is our judge. Same $20 entry, same CTP's on the par 3's (hopefully), same optional Gross Skins for an extra $20. Just more work for me to figure out the winners. You don't want to miss this fun event!
This Balboa Major has moved to the weekdays, so go low, and be rewarded.
The President's Cup is an individual 2 day tournament, with the overall low net 2 day score being crowned our 2020 Champion. We will pay Gross and Net in all the flights as usual. $30 entry fee gets you in the tournament and both days of not only CTP competitions (hopefully), but there will be day money for the day's lowest scores, as well as lots of bonus money added into the prize fund, which should equate to some handsome payouts. Also, there will be the optional Gross Skins on both days, for another $20 each day, payable the first day. You don't want to miss the Majors at Balboa!
1/4 of the field will be A players, 1/4 B, 1/4 C and you guessed it, 1/4 D determined on Wednesday the day after the sign-up window closes and announced shortly thereafter.
2 scores each hole will be used for each team.
A bit of extra $$ is intended to be paid out to help motivate you to sign-up.

Our Club Championship. Played over 3 consecutive days, Friday July 31st, Saturday August 1st, and Sunday August 2nd. Only the Championship Flight will play all 3 days. All other flights will play on Saturday and Sunday only. More info as the date approaches.
Could this be our first Mid-Season Classic? Perhaps not, but let's mix it up. A regular Individual, with event entry and CTP's for your $20. Plus the optional Gross Skins for another $20. To make things interesting, pairings will be straight off the money list, so maybe you'll make some new friends.

1 rotating player hits from the Red Tee each hole (1st, 5th , 9th, 13th, 17th) and his score counts, with his 3 partners playing from the whites and 1 of their score counts, effectively making it Better 2 Balls of 4.
The other 3 partners rotate to the Red Tee (2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th, 18th; 3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th; 4th, 8th, 12, 16th).
I haven't yet decided if the progression of players hitting from the Red Tees is according to Low H/C or a random draw!!!

Standard individual event to kick off our summer golf at Balboa. $20 entry gets you in the event, plus CTP's on all par 3's. An extra $20 will get you in the optional Gross Skins game. Gross and Net winners in each flight.
Due to C-19, we are postponing this til later in the summer when, hopefully, many of you will want to attend!
This USED to be where we would play our SCGA 2-man qualifing event, but they screwed that up. HOWEVER, that event still exists (but has been cancelled this year), but anyone and everyone can just partner-up and enter themselves. We may do something similar, but stay tuned. PLUS, it is my Birthday today, so if nothing else, there will be (no) BEER (at the course, after the round). And Closest to's (nope, not yet), and (optional Gross) Skins Game, if you like.

If a player of the team cannot finish the round, please advise me as soon as that happens and the remaining player is to play 2 balls for all remaining shots and chose the one to play from until the ball is holed, as though that his 2nd shot was that of his teammate. Modification of h/c will result.

Carts (first to all ADA, then 55 and over and now all golfers) have been authorized by the County BUT THE COURSE DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE FULL STAFF TO MAKE CARTS AVAILABLE TO ALL PLAYERS. This could change but it is not likely to before Wednesday's event.
So, IF YOU ARE ABLE TO WALK, please do so.
You may want to bring a bottle of hand sanitizer.
If you are to be walking a likely to need a hand-cart, the coiurse only has 13 hand carts available so plan to bring your own.
Once you start putting, putt out.
We are going to be playing from the traps: You may lift and smooth the sand with your foot, then replace the ball within proximate distance to where it landed.
At least for this event, the maximum score you are to take on a hole is to be a Double Bogey plus the stroke(s) you get on the hole, currently known as NET DOUBLE BOGEY. When that is the best you'll do, pick up and move on; we do not want to have slow play: that will result in a suspension for a yet-to-be-determined period of time..

Welcome to the beginning of our annual BPMGC Match Play Championship! Starting today with 64 seeded players (hopefully), the journey to this covetted title will see half the field be one and done. Future dates for finishing your next rounds of matches have been determined, so win today, then we will tell you who you play next, give you a date that the match needs to be played and/or completed by, and we will go from there.
Dates that matches need to be completed by are as follows. Second round: Sun 5/23. Sweet 16: Sun 6/13. Elite 8: Sun 6/27. Semifinals: Sun 7/11. Finals: Sun 7/25

Our Annual Dinner celebration of the Men’s Club is to be held Tuesday, January 14. The original "sign-up until date" was 12/31/19. We have several openings before reaching 100 so I am extending the date for a week, or until we reach 100 sign-ups.
Given the constraints of restaurant accessibility, room size and food types, it is to be at The Old Spaghetti Factory again.?
