President's Report - February 2013

By al bruton · January 30, 2013 · 1 min read

I write this as I pack to leave for Belize on a diving trip. I'm sick of the cold and rain. It seems as if the weather gods are working against us, especially in getting the Hansen Memorial played. I think that Dick is up there laughing at us. The result is that there will be no 2012 Hansen Memorial. A few of us slopped and slugged it out on the 27th, but for those of you that chose not to participate I can say only one thing. Smart move. We do have three events scheduled for this month. Wednesdays on the 13th and 27th and Sunday the 24th, so be sure to get signed up early as the events are filling up and we have lots of new members starting to participate, This is good and added tee times are available if you let Peter or Steve know in advance. Formats may change, so be sure to watch for announcements. On the team play front the senior team is off to one of it's best starts in recent memory. Currently 5 and 0. The hard body team is not doing as well, but are still not out of it. Kudo's to Larry Chvatal for putting a team together on very short notice. There is still hope in mudville. With the city there is not a lot to report, as all energy has been spent on the Farmer's Tournament and the International Green Keepers Association convention that is now in town. Still some grumbling about slow play and cart paths are still on the agenda for this spring. Larry Barron is leaving the city for early retirement. The divot crews have been unable to work due to rain and lack of cart availability, so anything you can do to fill divots while playing would be appreciated. Now I'll go finish packing my cameras and dive gear and see all of you after the middle of the month. In the mean time: Grip it and Rip it.

That's fine if you want to put up with all the artificial body parts and pain. Still, it is s aggod life.
