February 2013 minutes & mumblings
“Our geezer squad remains unbeaten for the season thus far, while the flat bellied Sat. group are grasping for Rapunzel's hair.”
Feb. 5 2013
Vice Pres. Larry Chvatal called the meeting to order at 6:30 sharp.
Attendance was quite regular, or "irregular", as the case may be.
The laughing table had already adjourned to the depths of our cellar in order to engage in the suits & tricks of "Bicycle Mania".
The board was well represented save for a couple of missing members, severe punitive castigation will be administered to the offending souls.
Officers reports were well received by the attending attendees.
Our treasury remains golden, at least by San Diego standards.
Our membership is healthy and growing still. Better yet, our roster, handicap-wise, seems to be getting stronger & stronger. The go-lowers are starting to outnumber our fading ancients and hackers.
We "20 plus'ers are finding ourselves more immersed in scripture than script.
It is a true fact though, that our geezer squad remains unbeaten for the season thus far, while the flat bellied Sat. group are grasping for Rapunzel's hair.
Word is, that the Sat. team play has disintegrated into more of a contest of mixed martial arts than the grand old gentleman's game of pasture pool. Our brothers from bonito Bonita seem to be the worst & most boorish offenders.
On a lighter note, we have Balboa members like Todd Moore who thought he had forgotten to re-up for the year and so submitted another check for $75.00 to our treasury.
Jeff Middlebrook, ever alert & suspicious of a set-up that could damage his reputation and political career offered to return the over-payment.
But wait, Todd was not to be caught off guard. He, a San Diego barrister of considerable regard, quickly explained that he realized that he had in fact re-upped and that the extra $75.00 was intended as a donation toward our tournament pay-out money.
This was graciously accepted by the members and Todd was roundly applauded but stopped short of accepting hugs & caresses to his cheek.
The raffle was conducted without incident with many happy winners. Of course, that goes without saying, as all of our members, especially meeting attendees are most definitely "WINNERS"
The meeting was adjourned & abandoned at 7:10pm.

P.S. Thanks to Lorenzo for your suggestion of an equipment up-grade.
My new recorder not only works better, but is far more user friendly.
