“The Mass was scheduled for 10:00 am but the start was delayed for just a few minutes. I thanked the priest for the delay in view of the fact that Del always scheduled his start time for 10:07 am. At first the priest was a bit apologetic, but then suggested it must have been God's will. I've always believed that there was often a higher power in the starters booth.”
Today we buried our good friend Del Kay. I'm still in a state of dis-belief as I'm sure most of you are too!! He always seemed to be in the picture of heath & looked like he'd be around forever. We had a nice turn-out at the church & the Balboa club house. I'm sure Del appreciated the send off. The Mass was scheduled for 10:00 am but the start was delayed for just a few minutes. We often mention the diversity of our great Balboa membership, people from all walks of life. the proverbial cops & cons. The merchants, the musicians & even the righties and the lefties. Well Dell covered most of the above. He told me once of a show & tell in front of his high school class. Being a very proud, self taught accordion player, and on completion of a spirited performance, the teacher was very complimentary, but. she said, Dell, you're holding the instrument backwards. Maybe to a righty, but not to a lefty!! He played it that way from then on!! We're going to miss the lefty in the pork pie hat. He was a good member, a good player, and a good friend. Adios;; Del Kay
