It's all John Hoffman is this years Senior Championship!
John Hoffman started with a one stroke lead after the opening round but quickly improved on that total. John ran in a 30 ft birdie on #1 and he was off and running. Only one stutter step on the front (a bogie on #4 with a penalty stroke) which was followed up with birdies on #7, #8, & #9. Total score on the front was a 33 and his lead swelled to 8 over Barron & Chvatal. The back nine was more of the same until a wayward shot scurried out of bounds on #16 which resulted in a double bogie. In the end the card totaled one under 71 for a 36 hole winning score of 141 (-3). Gary Urtiaga had a nice rebound on the back nine with a 34 to end as the second low senior (3rd in flight). Great performance John, a well deserved championship.
Rick Wentworth was the other hot player on the course carding a 77-79 which computed to a 130 net. Rick takes down the low net honor and wins the 1/2 paid entry into the December SCGA Net Division tournament of Club Champions. Great job Rick.
The Good Tom Woliver scored a 73-73
The Bad Tom got stung by a bee on hole #12 and his hand swelled up like Charlie Chance's pants in a strip joint
The Good Speaking of Charlie - Chance shot a 38 on the front nine (not bad for a 16 handicapper)
The Bad The 16th hole was a marathon that only ended when his putt drop dead center for a 14!
The Very Good The job Peter Berk did managing and running a very difficult 2 day championship. Next time you run into Peter, give him a pat on the back, a high five, and offer to buy him a beer for all his hard (unpaid) work that makes these event happen!!!
