Cheers, Jeers, Beers, & more at Wed June28th individual event!
“There were so many ones and five dollar bills flying around that the strippers at Pacers grabbed their poles and headed for the park. Fry & Woliver quickly cleaned everyone out of cash so the girls missed out and everyones marriage was saved!”
You know the saying, when the cats away..... With regular tournament director, Peter Berk, on sabatical this event set records for debachery. The early finishers were enjoying a peaceful beer in the scoring room overlooking the 18th green when some idiot (that would be me), decide to start betting on the players putting out down below on the 18th green. What start as a gentlemens wager quick turned into a football style roar with each putt rolled as more people entered the action. Anyone missing or making a putt received both cheers, boo's, and a few creative cuss words depending who was on the right or wrong side of the bet. There were so many ones and five dollar bills flying around that the strippers at Pacers grabbed their poles and headed for the park. Fry & Woliver quickly cleaned everyone out of cash so the girls missed out and everyones marriage was saved!
Oh, and by the way, there was some really good golf play as well. Tom Woliver not only snatched bonus bucks in the scoring room, his 3 under 69 took low gross honors for the day. Jason Fry, just missed again, turning in a 2 under 70 for second. Third went to Todd Parker, who just returned by from up North, with a 71. It took under par to get in the gross money!!
Bob Grassa was the tournament director for this event and a new grand payout was added for the overall low net. The lowest of the low (and in this case that's a good title to have) was none other than Art Shannon with a 82=66. Bob's director's special scored Art a $60 payday!!
Alford, Clingan, & Bruton took the other gross titles. The net champs were Barron, Kay, Allen, and Ben Burris who thought he was out of it all day but ended up with the win.
Special Note: Jim Muttera set or tied his lowest score ever at Balboa today with a very nice 78. (Anyone want to bet if he can do it again? I got $5 on Jim, how about it Woliver & Fry!) Great job Jim.
Everyone also needs to thank fill in tournament director Bob Grassa for the fine job of producing this tournament. After all, keeping track of the free wheelers in this club is kind of like herding cats! Thanks Bob!!
