Have you ever watched the plinko disc bounce around on the Price is Right game show? If not you got to see that format on the newly punched Balboa greens this past Wednesday. Here's what you had to do. Line the putt up aiming at the punch hole on the right which turns it back to the middle hitting the next hole where it bounces straight up and to the left hitting another mark that turns it right, then it takes the greens break and dives into the hole. After which you let out a sly simile, like you actually planned it the whole time. Oh come on, we all know you just got lucky! The bigger issue was adapting to the speed of the greens. Many well struck putts can up short as a velcro like effect stopped what looked like perfect pace only come up well short. The downhill efforts had just the opposite problem as most downhill rolls took on the speed of a runaway beer truck. So, who ended up with the right formula? The vote has to go to Robert DeLacy with a career low round of 76 GROSS! DeLacy, a 15 handicap, immediately submitted a work order with the city requesting additional punching prior to the next event. Hell, with a round like that, he should just go out and rent a hole puncher and use it before every tournament. Roy Long didn't have any problems and his 92 scored him the gross win in Flight #4, his first victory of the year. He also added to his hefty take with a SR closest to the pin for another $44. Since Roy refused to share his lucky hugs before the round, and a $114 total purse won, you would think the drinks were on him in the viewing room. But just like the "Shadow" he disappeared into the late afternoon setting sun! The table trio (they aways set together in the cafe after the round) of Prazen, Clemens, and Donnellan took home their share for this Bonus Money event. Prazen conquered his flight for 1st net, while Clemens and Donnellan both nabbed runner-up positions. In the end, just a little beer money for the boys! Side note: The Tinsley boys were no shows, so Thoresen and his playing partner went out first of the morning as a twosome. I was strolling down #1 at 9:00am and here came Big Steve lumbering up #18. When the last putt dropped the boys had completed their 18 holes in 2hrs 5minutes. Expect Peter Berk and the city to start yelling for players to hurry up more often after seeing that time. What's next Big Steve, a sub 2 hours round! THIS WAS A $300 BONUS EVENT SO THE PAYOUTS WERE PLUS SIZE! CHECK THE SCHEDULE, GRAB YOU PLANNER, AND MAKE SURE YOU SIGN-UP WHEN THE NEXT ONE ROLLS INTO THE PARK! The results: Payout (Gross & Net) 1st $70, 2nd $45, 3rd $30, 4th $15 Flight #1 GROSS: 1.....72..........Tom Woliver 2.....75..........Larry Barron 3.....76..........Rob Mills 4.....78..........Zack Nielson NET: 1....78=67.....Bruce Barr 2....78=68.....Don Ericson 3....78=70.....John Sewell (won card off) 4....79=69.....Hedges Capers Flight #2 GROSS: 1.....76..........Robert DeLacy 2.....81..........Monte McIntyre 3.....83..........Ted Hynes 4.....84..........John Hensley NET: 1...80=67......John Varner 2...83=69......Del Kay 3...84=70......Rick McGaffigan 4...85=71......Bob Gentles Flight #3 GROSS: 1.....84..........Chuck Lasher 2.....85..........Charlie Chance (won card off) 3.....87..........George Durr 4.....88..........Ed Dick NET: 1...87=65......Ray Prazen 2...85=67......Darlo Clemens 3...87=69......Steve Dani 4...92=70......Doug Hatfield Flight #4 GROSS: 1.....92..........Roy Long 2.....95..........Dave Wageman 3.....95..........Al Bruton 4.....99..........Joe Pikus (won card off) NET: 1....98=67.....Charles Young 2..104=68.....Tom Donnellan 3....97=70.....Miguel Cordoba 4..102=72.....Glen Rose (won card off)

Poor ole' Roy;; He finally comes back from the severely disabled list to luck into the money and he is hit with unfair ridicule by the (GYPSY HUGGER)!! Since I, for one am closely fond & familiar with this out standing citizen, I want to declare before God and country that he may be guilty of having short legs, but (NOT SHORT ARMS)!! In order to restore the veracity this unfairly aggrieved gentleman. There will be held an open contest at our next extravaganza as to who can supply the most remedial, and restorative, liquid refreshments to our adoring gathering. Yours Respectfully;; Rogello Largo
