With all the low net & gross totals the scoreboards looked like something you would see in the garage where the St Valentine's Day massacre happened. It most have been something in the air as 36 players posted a net or gross score that was under par. Add in the guys with net 72's and exactly half the field match gross or net par. Peter Berk goes through 5 red Sharpie's and chaos reins as bean counters Woliver & Barron try to make sense of this mess.
How bad was it? Hensley, Alford, Van Nostern, Aubrey, Evans, Clemons, & Durr all carded net 71 and didn't even get a handshake. So who were these Red Raiders? In the go low for gross column just think Tom Woliver with a 5 under 67. Jason Fry & Paul Rathbun both ducked under par with 71's. Big Steve Thoresen just missed a red gross with 72 but that netted 67 for a win. The net crowd included wins by Don Ericson (67), Charlie Chance (66), Barry O'Malley (67), and Jon Curtiss (69). When in the hell did this course get so easy!!
It was a good event to bring your A game as the club kicked in a extra $300 to supplement the entry fees. In the end the purse totaled up to a cool $1340 which is the largest of the season. The money should hit your American Golf Script cards within the next couple of days so get in the Pro Shop and stock up on some new gear. Maybe it's time to re-grip your favorite weapons!
