Club Match Play Championship Finals loom August 17th - Semi finals results

After starting with a field of 44 we are finally down to 2! The semi finals were played this past Sunday as the final four hit the home links with the dream still alive. First up the Capers vs Aubrey match - The match started pretty even, then Hedges 12th cup of coffee kicked in with full force. After Gregg hit a misdirected drive on #6 and a birdie for Hedge on #7, the Godfather had a 3 up lead. He continued on his quest and led by 5 at the turn. There was no lack of fight from the youngster as Gregg staged a comeback to trim the margin to 2 after #15. Capers won't be denied as he grabbed a par on the tough 16th and took his spot in the finals with a 3 & 2 victory. Match #2 featured Robert Rapista vs Larry Chvatal. Rapista came out strong winning the first hole and continuing his fine play to go 3 up after 7 holes. Chvatal, who was in the exact same position in his last match launched a win streak that saw him win 6 of the next 7 to reverse the count in his favor. Rapista, down 3 with 3 to go took the 16th and still had hope heading to the par 3 17th. Chvatal's tee shot found the green and that was enough to secure the 3 & 1 win. In the end, as Hedge put it, the old coggers whip up on the young whippersnappers. THE FINALS: Hedge "The Godfather" Capers vs Larry "The gypsy" Chvatal - The games have already begun. Chvatal has purchased all the coffee at the course in advance of finals day. Hedge has loaded his bag with exploding golf balls and various other weapons.
