January 2013 minutes & mumblings

January 8, 2013 The 1st meeting of the year was called to order at promptly 6:30 pm. Pres. Bruton declared this new year things would be run more efficiently with no dilly dallying delays. And besides he had to hurry home to pack for another trip. He wasn't quite sure where, but it would be some place far away from Balboa! It seems he has recently come under a great deal of heat from the SCGA, handicap-wise. They, (the SCGA) have had the audacity to question his continuous winning ways in club tournaments & team play. The meeting was reasonably well attended with a sufficient quorum of officers and a goodly number of smiling regulars. The laughing table was packed to overflow. Good-on-ya' guys, the Tobey's love your business. Treasurer, Jeff Middlebrook, taking a page from Gov. Jerry's book, assured us of a healthy budget this year and reported a bank balance of $12,000 +!! Oh' wait a minute:: that was before, "some rather ominous expenses"!! We will manage nicely though, as long as the senior Middlebrook continues to rack up new members. We need to bring um' in & help him out!! Larry Chvvvatal once again dodged questions about the mysterious D. for C., but brought us up to date on the semi-winning ways of the Saturday,(flat belly), team, an L there but a W here. The geezer squad, 55+, is so far undefeated. Honest Ollie conducted the raffle without incident, and the meeting was adjourned at or about 7:15pm. Roy Long sec.
