Phil Mickelson made a surprise appearance to our historic links on Saturday to play a round with his dad. Note that it was on Saturday. You can bet he didn't want to tangle with our go low guys in the Sunday individual event played the next day. A few of the guys didn't disappoint on a day where most scores trended higher than normal. Cochran & Grassa hooked up in a dual with both players scoring multiple birdies and even some eagles enroute to 1 under rounds of 71. Grassa took the gross card off while Cochran also got a 1st in the net category. Gary Matthews was a runner-up with a very fine 72 gross.
Rick McGaffigan was feeling his PGA swagger in winning the net title in flight #3 and so was Scott Billion, Jeff Middlebrook, and Ray Prazen....also winners. Newcomer, Rodrigo Cortes, scored some Balboa script in his first event taking the "show" position in Flight #3. Welcome aboard and congrats, Rodrigo!
Side note: Charlie Chance missed the event because from what I understand, he was still in a comprising position at 5:00am on the morning of the tournament. Word is, his $15 no show fine was money well spent. Congrats Charlie but we want to see the cell phone photos!
